Susila Dharma Indonesia are working to help the victims of the Mount Merapi eruption
and other related disasters in other parts of the country. Mount Merapi
is a conical volcano located on the border between Central Java and
Jogjakarta. It is very close to the city of Jogjakarta and thousands of
people live on the flanks of the volcano, with villages as high as 1,700
meters above sea level. More than 270,000 people forced from their
homes by the volcano. Nearly two weeks of eruptions have left more than
130 people dead.
Subud Indonesia is reporting on how Subud members have been effected and their volunteer efforts.
Contributing to emergency situations around the world.
SDIA, although not a relief organization, is aware of the need to respond to disasters and of our supporters’ wish to donate funds to help those affected by them.
Quite often, SDIA does not have member projects in disaster-affected zones with the capacity to channel funds and goods to effectively reach those in need. In the case of an urgent situation that you would like to take action on, we recommend that you contact your SD National organization for advice on the organizations in your country best placed to deal with the emergency. Or you can visit the websites of the humanitarian organizations listed below.

CHRISTCHURCH EARTHQUAKE
The earthquake that struck Christchurch on February 22nd is far worse than the first. The quake brings with it a climbing death toll, basic services such as water, power and sewer in ruins, homes and businesses damaged to the point of not being not livable, unthinkably grim long-term economic prospects, and undreamed-of immediate needs.
